Embracing the Call to Multiply: Your Role in Expanding God's Kingdom

Have you ever wondered what your purpose is in the grand scheme of things? You’re not alone. Many of us grapple with this question, especially when it comes to our faith. At City United Church, we believe that each of us has a unique role in multiplying disciples and expanding God’s kingdom. This isn’t just a lofty goal; it’s a calling that Jesus himself gave us. In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus commands us to "go and make disciples of all nations." This is a mission that requires all of us to step up and take action.

Our vision is clear: to transform New England by making disciples and planting churches. This vision drives everything we do because we believe that saturating our region with the gospel of Jesus Christ will create communities where people can find hope and purpose. But how do we get there? It starts with you. It starts with each of us taking personal responsibility to live as everyday missionaries in our everyday places.

The Call to Multiply

The main point of our recent sermon is simple yet profound: We must multiply disciples to expand the kingdom. This isn’t just about adding numbers; it’s about creating a culture of multiplication where everyone is focused on making disciples. Imagine if each of us reached out and equipped just one other person to grow in their faith. The ripple effect would be incredible.

Here’s how you can be part of this movement:

  1. Proclaim Christ: Think about the circles you’re in—where you eat, work, shop, study, and play. Are you making Jesus known in these spaces? Evangelism isn’t just a gift; it’s a command. Take personal ownership of your platform and share the good news.
  2. Warn Everyone: Life is short, and time is limited. We must live with a sense of urgency, knowing that every person we encounter has a soul that matters to God. Let’s not settle for complacency but instead be alert and ready to share the hope we have in Jesus.
  3. Help Others Reach Their Full Potential: This is about mentoring and teaching. We’re called to raise up leaders who will lead others. Whether you’re a disciple, discipling, or a disciple maker, there’s a place for you in this journey. Ask yourself, what level are you on right now?
  4. Work Together to Multiply the Kingdom: We can’t do this alone. It requires all of us working together for local, regional, and global impact. Whether it’s reaching our neighbors, partnering with other churches, or supporting missionaries, your involvement matters.

Taking the Next Step

So, what’s your next step in this journey of multiplication? Maybe it’s starting your personal multiplication journey, getting involved in a group, or sharing your transformation story. Perhaps it’s joining our weekly training sessions or funding the vision through generous giving. Whatever it is, know that your contribution is significant.

The point is, Jesus wants your whole heart. What will you do this week to give it to him? Without taking this step, you’ll miss out on what Jesus wants for you. Let’s not just be hearers of the word but doers. Let’s be generation builders who will change New England for God’s glory.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, we ask for your guidance as we step into our roles as multipliers of your kingdom. Help us to be bold in proclaiming your name, urgent in sharing your message, and committed to helping others reach their full potential. May we work together to see your kingdom expand here, near, and far. Transform our hearts and use us for your glory. Amen.
