“Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will travel to such and such a city and spend a year there and do business and make a profit.” 14Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring—what your life will be! For you are like vapor that appears for a little while, then vanishes. 15Instead, you should say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” 16But as it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. 17So it is sin to know the good and yet not do it.”       James 4:13-17

Purpose Statement: For the next five years, our church will be laser-focused on what is NEXT for us, staying outreach-focused and intentional on reaching people for a more significant Gospel impact.

God wants to work through us to reach the people of New England by making disciples and planting new and revitalized churches. Over the next five years, we will be focused on enlarging, equipping, encouraging, and executing a flexible plan to make significant Kingdom impact. We will focus on direction over destinations and remain flexible to what God is going to do in us and through us.

I. Enlarging by Preparing to Reach the Nations

We will reach the nations by:
1. Raising up one family in the next 5 years to send out for international missions.

2. Launching City United to reach the nations around our church and throughout New England with partnerships in ethnic ministries.

3. Partnering with like-minded missions’ organizations in short-term missions’ exposure trips throughout the globe.

II. Equipping to Multiply Leaders

We will multiply leaders by:
1. Assisting 5 churches to begin a revitalization/replant process and find renewal.

2. Assisting in planting 5 churches in the New England area.
3. Hiring new staff members to reproduce leaders.

4. Building our pastoral teaching team.

5. Building a two-year residency program for interns and leaders.

III. Encouraging to Expand the Gospel

We will expand the Gospel by:
1. Seeing 100 new followers of Jesus Christ saved and baptized at City United Church through your personal evangelism and discipleship.

2. Training and discipling the Next Generation (Generation Z and Alpha) and deploying them with a strong voice and boldness both inside and outside our church to lead us into the future.
3. Expanding micro-groups by reproducing/multiplying twice in a year.
4. Growing our micro-churches (5 micro-churches) to expand our Gospel reach in neighborhoods and locations in our area.

IV. Execute a Solid Plan for Campus Restoration and More Space for Ministry

We will execute this plan by:
1. Restructuring/repurposing Building 1 for more ministry and office space.

2. Asking outside partners to help fund expansion initiatives and help with the restoration of our buildings.

3. Moving staff out of Building 3 to regain classroom space for other ministries and potential rental income.
