Looking Back: 50 Years of Faithfulness
Kicking off the “Legacy Builders” series, Pastor Gary Moritz challenges the church to look beyond the present and invest deeply in the generation to come. Drawing from David’s final handoff to his son Solomon in 1 Chronicles 28–29, the message reminds us that every generation benefits from the faith, sacrifices, and work of those who came before us. Psalm 145:4 sets the foundation, declaring that “one generation will commend your works to another,” calling us to actively share what God has done rather than quietly assume it will be remembered. Legacy builders prepare the next generation by providing practical resources while, most importantly, helping them develop a personal relationship with God. They also buy into God’s vision by recognizing that everyone has a part to play, understanding that we are stewards—not owners—of everything He has entrusted to us. Finally, legacy builders embrace intentional succession by equipping, empowering, and releasing the next generation rather than holding tightly to control. Ultimately, Jesus is the builder of His church, and we have the privilege of joining Him in building a multi-generational community of disciples who will carry His mission forward.
